Yale U. Castlio, DO, Award
All KCU faculty, students and residents who are participating in the 2023 KCU Research Symposium are also invited to submit their research project for consideration for the Yale U. Castlio, DO, Prize for Research Fund (formerly the Betty Jo White Prize for Research Fund).
Submissions Due Friday, March 20, 2023, by 5 p.m.
This Prize for Research Fund was established to encourage research activity at Kansas City University. Projects receiving the prize will significantly advance the osteopathic medical profession and the University’s position in the research community.
The purpose of the Prize for Research Fund is to provide funding for eligible students, residents, and faculty of KCU to pursue osteopathic research projects and the teaching thereof, and/or to advance osteopathic surgical research and the teaching thereof.
Qualified studies may fall within the fields of surgery (including post-op and safe zone surgical studies), osteopathic manipulative medicine (including cranial-sacral therapies and myofascial release), lymphatic research, musculoskeletal research, neurological research (including neurodegenerative disease, spinal fluid, and spinal cord injuries), tissue regeneration and healing (including burn research and bone grafting), stem cell research, cloning and nutrition.
A committee will determine the recipient of the Prize for Research Fund. Funds from the prize may be applied toward the research project, publication and printing of results, travel for presentation of research project, or equipment needs. Funds may not be applied toward personnel expenses.
A report of progress, use of funds, findings, etc. must be submitted to the committee and ultimately, the donor, at the end of the calendar year in which the prize was awarded.
At the discretion of the committee, the prize may be awarded to the same project in consecutive years, not to exceed three consecutive years.
How To Apply
Applications for this prize must include the following:
- A 350-word abstract describing your research project and findings.
- A 300-word statement about how your research qualifies for this prize, and how prize funds will be used if awarded.
- Must fall into one of the eligible fields listed above.
- The applicant must be available to present the project at KCU’s Research Symposium Week from April 4-7, 2023, if selected.
