Academic Honors, Honorary Fraternities

Latin honor graduates and members of Psi Sigma Alpha will receive medallions. Members of Sigma Sigma Phi and Gold Humanism will receive honor cords. These will be distributed with your attire for you to wear during the Commencement Ceremony.

Professional Photos

Two photographers will attend each commencement ceremony (KC and Joplin). Lifetouch Photography will take photos of each graduate as they are hooded and these will be available from their gallery for you to purchase and download. Additionally, a photographer will take candid shots throughout the ceremony and these will be available for downloading from a KCU digital album. Please check this page following commencement for the link.

Live-Streamed Ceremony & Video

In order to accommodate friends and family members who are unable to attend commencement, the ceremonies will be streamed directly from YouTube during the live events:
Kansas City on Saturday, May 8, from 9 a.m. - noon
Joplin on Sunday, May 9, from 1-3 p.m.

After the ceremonies, the videos will be available for viewing and sharing on YouTube.

A few tips for viewing a live stream event:

  • Find a stable and strong internet connection.
  • Live streams are best viewed from a laptop or desktop computer, as audio quality and picture quality will be as good as it gets. Your mobile device will work fine, though the picture size will be limited.
  • Close all windows except for a browser, where you will have the streaming event playing.

Issues may arise, and they are usually due to unstable or weak internet connection - the video and audio may "skip" or you may experience pixelation or bad audio. Check that your internet connection is stable. If it's not, move to a stable and strong internet connection. If your connection is good and you are still having issues, it may have to do with software on your computer. Restarting the browser, or restarting the computer may be helpful in those cases. We will also make the videos available (after some time for production) so that you can view the events later.
