Nicole Fremarek, DO, MBA, a faculty member at Kansas City University (KCU), has joined Sano Specialty Care. Fremarek combines her clinical expertise with a deep dedication to mentorship, fostering the integration of academic excellence and hands-on practice.
With a focus on non-operative sports medicine, Fremarek specializes in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal injuries. She utilizes innovative approaches like musculoskeletal ultrasound and orthobiologics, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and prolotherapy, to help athletes recover and perform at their best without the need for surgery.
Her philosophy focuses on a patient-first approach, making sure athletes get the best care while staying active and performing at their peak. Having experienced sports-related injuries herself, Fremarek truly understands the challenges athletes face in staying at their best and bouncing back after an injury.
“Having been a student at KCU when Sano first opened, joining the team feels like a full-circle moment for me. What truly resonates is Sano’s unwavering focus on patient care.” Fremarek said. “At the end of the day, it’s all about putting patients first, and that commitment is what drew me to this opportunity. I’m excited to be the first non-operative sports medicine provider at Sano, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Daggett and further enhance the care we provide.”
Before joining Sano, Fremarek established herself as an integral part of KCU, where she serves as both a clinician and a mentor. She leveraged her network of mentors to explore how osteopathic medicine could bridge the gap between athletic performance and health care. Her focus on creating a supportive, athlete-centered environment led her to envision a stronger role for KCU in sports medicine—a vision that culminated in her new appointment at Sano.
“We’re excited to welcome Dr. Fremarek to Sano,” said Matt Daggett, DO, MBA, founder and CEO of Sano Specialty Care. “As a fellow KCU alum, it’s meaningful to bring her expertise in non-operative sports medicine to the team. Her patient-first approach strengthens our commitment to comprehensive, athlete-focused care, enhancing how we support recovery, performance and long-term wellness."
A lifelong learner, Fremarek is dedicated to the growth and development of future physicians. She sees her dual role at KCU and Sano as an opportunity to teach and inspire students while continuing to grow as a clinician.
“I’m most excited to take the knowledge and skills I’ve gained over the years from my mentors and continue to build upon that foundation. Being in a musculoskeletal-focused environment like this is a fantastic opportunity for growth, not only for my own practice but also for the KCU students I work with,” Fremarek said. “It’s one thing to learn theory, but it’s truly rewarding to bring real-world clinical experiences to the classroom, sharing firsthand insights like, ‘I saw that last week’ or ‘I’ve treated patients with similar cases.’ It’s a unique way to bridge the gap between learning and practice.”
