KCU regrets to announce the passing of alumnus and osteopathic leader, Donald J. Krpan, DO (COM ’67). Dr. Krpan passed away on Jan. 4 in Yorba Linda, California surrounded by his family.

Dr. Krpan was a trailblazer in the osteopathic profession. He was one of the first DOs to receive a California license following the Supreme Court decision reauthorizing osteopathic licensure in the state. He went on to serve the osteopathic profession in many capacities.

He was a past Provost of Western University of Health Sciences of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona. He sat on the boards of numerous organizations, including the Osteopathic Medical Board of California and the Osteopathic Physician and Surgeons of California, the latter of which he served as president.

He also served as president of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) president from 2000 to 2001. In addition, he was a member of the AOA’s Board of Trustees and House of Delegates.

Dr. Krpan practiced as a family and emergency medicine for more than 20 years. His involvement and leadership in the osteopathic community will be missed.
