The Kansas City University (KCU) Alumni Association is proud to announce Nathan Hall, DO (COM ‘10, COB ‘06), as its 2024 president. As an alumnus who earned every degree offered by the University during his time as a student, Hall comes with a unique ability to coalesce a diverse alumni base of more than 10,000 members.
Hall initially enrolled in KCU College of Biosciences (COB) to earn a master’s degree in biomedical sciences. Following graduation, Hall entered the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and earned a dual degree – doctor of osteopathic medicine and master’s in business administration health care leadership, distinguishing himself as class president and DO Student of the Year and ultimately earning all degrees the University had to offer at the time. Since then, Hall has remained an engaged alumnus, even being elected to serve the University as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Hall’s credentials make him an ideal alumnus to lead the Association that is comprised of graduates from various colleges and programs, particularly as KCU continues to expand and diversify in its programmatic offerings to include doctor’s degrees in dental medicine, clinical psychology along with osteopathic medicine and master’s degrees in biomedical sciences, business administration in health-care leadership and public health.
Hall said one of his priorities during his 2024 term is to encourage and increase alumni engagement across all colleges and programs. And a second goal is to showcase to members how KCU is becoming a more diverse University in the education it offers.
“KCU is not just a medical school anymore. We teach and graduate clinical psychologists, dentists, business administrators and researchers along with physicians,” Hall said. “Although the majority of our alumni base is made up of physicians, we have graduates from other programs whose voices need to be heard and I want to ensure that happens.”
“KCU is proud to have more than 10,000 alumni who have strengthened the association for decades,” he said. “As an alumnus of both the COM and the COB, I hope to provide a better understanding of who we are as a university and where the future of KCU lies. I want to communicate that diversity exists within our campuses through more than age, race and culture. We are diverse in the subject matter and degrees earned by the professionals who will live out the KCU mission of improving the well-being of the communities we serve.”
“Dr. Hall is just the right person at the right time to serve as president of the KCU Alumni Association,” said Jennifer Ingraham, vice president for Advancement and Alumni Engagement. “As our alumni base broadens and reflects KCU’s growth and program expansion, Dr. Hall has the vision and experience to engage and unite graduates from all programs represented in our association.”
Hall is the most recent graduate to serve as KCU Alumni Association president. After completing his DO degree in 2010, he completed his residency in pediatrics in 2013 and a fellowship in pediatric hematology oncology in 2016 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He currently serves as medical director of Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, and director of Pediatric Hematology Oncology at the University of Kansas – Wichita Campus. His special interests lie in telemedicine and keeping children with cancer and blood disorders close to their home and community.
