KCU Deans Named National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators Fellows

The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU) is pleased to announce the induction of Schoen W. Kruse, PhD, and John Graneto, DO, into the 2016 National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME) Fellows by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Kruse is assistant dean for academic affairs at KCU; Dr. Graneto is an associate dean.

NAOME Fellows are inducted into the Academy each year to serve a five-year term. As Fellows, inductees function as leaders and mentors for academic scholarship and excellence within the osteopathic medical education community. Established in 2009, NAOME was the first national health professions education academy. Its peer-selected membership makes up a community of outstanding educators from across the osteopathic medical education continuum.

“We are committed to providing the highest-quality medical education and training to our students, and without exceptional faculty such as Drs. Kruse and Graneto, this would not be possible,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, president and chief executive officer of KCU. “I am proud of all that Dr. Kruse and Dr. Graneto do for our university. They are truly deserving of this recognition.”

As a first-year inductee, Dr. Kruse was among five others selected. Dr. Graneto was one of three to successfully reapply for the five-year fellowship. They join Diane Karius, PhD, KCU associate professor of physiology and director of human patient simulation, who is also a NAOME Fellow.

“I’m honored to be reselected as a NAOME Fellow,” said Dr. Graneto. “I look forward to continuing to serve as a provider of academic excellence for KCU and its students.”
