When an individual chooses a career in medicine, he or she not only commits to a lifetime of caring for patients, but years of continuous education as well.
Physicians depend on accredited continuing medical education to help them remain sharp on the latest in medical advancements.
This week, KCU received notification from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) that the school’s CME activities are now reaccredited until Nov. 30, 2020. ACCME awarded accreditation for KCU’s self-study report, evidence of performance-in-practice and the accreditation interview.
“KCU is proud of the outstanding work by members of our CME committee to obtain re-accreditation by ACCME,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, President and CE0. “This continues KCU’s dual status of meeting the requirements for both the ACCME and the AOA, ensuring that the highest-quality continuing medical education is available to DOs and MDs alike to most positively impact patient care.”
CME coursework helps doctors meet the requirements for maintaining their licenses, specialty board certifications, as well as memberships in professional organizations.
Mike Johnston, DO, interim dean of the KCU College of Osteopathic Medicine, chaired the CME committee for KCU.
“We’ve established this relationship as a provider of CME with ACCME since 2002,” Johnston said. “Quality CME is beneficial, not only to our alumni, but to all physicians in Kansas City and the region.”
KCU hosted CME events during October’s homecoming and Centennial celebrations. Topics ranged from diagnosis and treatment of adult diabetes, assessment and management of ADHD, and maintaining a healthy immune system, to name a few.
KCU recognizes the time and energy contributed by committee members into developing a successful overall CME program that is making a difference in patient care.
