(Kansas City, Mo. – 10/20/2020) – Kansas City University president and CEO Marc B. Hahn, DO, has written a compelling commentary published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association regarding the tragic consequences of putting partisan politics ahead of public health titled “The battle between politics and science is costing us a timely victory over the pandemic.”
“The U.S. is now suffering from a crushing resurgence of the coronavirus with the daily number of COVID-19 new cases and deaths escalating across the country,” Hahn notes. In his manuscript, Hahn compares and contrasts the “ideologies, interests and agendas” that are part of politics with the independent and evolving nature of science that questions belief systems and is open to new and different conclusions.
“It didn’t have to be this way,” Hahn writes. He emphasizes the need for osteopathic medicine to stand with science as the world seeks to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
