Celebrate 100 Years with Us
For a century, Kansas City University of Medicine and Biociences (KCU) has been committed to a primary objective – producing highly qualified and compassionate osteopathic physicians. Over the last decade, that objective has grown to include training researchers and bioethicists.
As we celebrate KCU’s centennial, we also recognize the importance of looking back. Understanding our true purpose and embracing a vision for our institution will help KCU prepare for training another century of osteopathic physicians and health professionals.
Sharing Memories
“Yesterday, May 3rd, my wife Claudia, Dr. Harold (Hal) McNeil, and yours truly (Dr. Ron Chernov), had an unscheduled "once in a life time" meeting in Chesapeake, Virginia. Fifty-three years have passed since we graduated from our beloved Kansas City College of Osteopathy and Surgery, now Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Hal immediately remembered the occasion at Dean K.J. Davis' home when ITS Medical Fraternity had a party in Dean Davis' basement and I did a magic and fire eating act. All was fine until I blew a stream of fire across the basement ceiling and a few of the newspaper chain rings caught fire. Everyone stopped the flames very quickly and there was never any danger. However, the notoriety transcends time. Hope you enjoy a moment from our beloved medical school past.Warm Regards, Dr. Ron and Claudia Chernov”
