Robert S. Juhasz, DO (COM ’81), FACOI, FACP
Dr. Robert S. Juhasz still remembers getting the call that he was accepted to KCU. It was three days before the start of class. At that time, waitlisted students were guaranteed entrance into the next academic year.
“It may have been more rational to say, 'No, I’ll come wait until next fall.' But when you work so hard to get to something and you get an opportunity to take it, you don’t think twice. I called my wife and said we’re moving to Kansas City.” Dr. Juhasz said.
Wishing to return to Ohio to complete his training and practice, Dr. Juhasz worked to establish the first student chapter of the Ohio Osteopathic Association.
“That experience while at KCU helped me realize that I could lead and make a difference,” Dr. Juhasz said.
In 2014, Dr. Juhasz became the 118th President of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). (Fun fact: Dr. Juhasz followed fellow 1981 KCU graduate, Karen J. Nichols who was the 114th AOA president.)
From his experiences, Dr. Juhasz encourages medical students to get involved in osteopathic research and advocacy. “It’s the only way for the profession to grow and make a difference,” he said.
Dr. Juhasz stays active with KCU and is currently part of a centennial leadership group.
“I was recently on campus and I am impressed with the work being done and the vision of the current administration, faculty and students.” Dr. Juhasz said.
Dr. Juhasz is an Association Clinical Professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.
